Candidate Pitch
On the 1 May I will be asking the residents of this area to help Healey escape the Lib Dem doldrums.
Since 2004 this Ward has had three Liberal Democrat Councillors. Has this benefited the area? Not really. The Liberal Democrats take residents for granted in Healey so they can concentrate on “other areas”.
That is why when I talk to residents or attend Syke Area Forums the problems seem to be the same.
A Liberal Democrat Councillor for this Ward recently said that: “Shawclough is suffering death by a thousand cuts”. By his own and his colleagues lack of action they are ensuring that the Healey Ward as a whole is suffering more than a thousand cuts.
If elected I will concentrate on the following areas:
- Reducing traffic congestion at Shawclough and on Whitworth Road.
- Campaign to bring back the bus service on Bentley Street.
- Fight for a pedestrian or zebra crossing on Bentley Street.
- Demand a permanently funded community and youth facility.
- Make the Council do its job and clean up grot spots.
- Insist on more police in the Ward.
- Help ensure better parking around the Common.
- Plus all the other issues and concerns you raise.
The Liberal Democrat Council could have directly funded our Services at Syke Community Base, especially after receiving a massive budget increase from our Labour Government.
They chose not to.
You can choose not to as well. You can choose not to vote for the Liberal Democrats and help this Ward achieve its full potential.
Healey can do better, Healey should do better and by voting for me as your choice for Councillor for this Ward on the 1 May it will start to get better.
I promise to represent you well, always be available and to put Healey first. Please vote for me, Phill Bethell on the 1 of May.
Thank you.
