Into 2003 with another brainstormer at Castleton when Dave Donohoe brought in the New of 'Jazz on a Sunday' in Siberian conditions, but 'A Few Degrees Under' Won't deter the hardy Jazzers adter all one or two who have over imbibed are often at least one degree under the following morning!

What could be more colourful than a brollie parade around the club (not the pitch!). To the sound of 'Just A Closer Walk With Thee' and 'Sweet Bye & Bye'. Ladies - the 'Tiller Girls' are watching!

Donohoe's New Orleans sounds make great listening and a variable programme of classics, standards, spirituals and blues kept the temperature at a high level inside closed doors!

Amongst the many highlights were a superb vocal by trombonist Donohoe on 'You Don't Know Me' and solo on 'Ory's Creole Trombone'. Excellent reedsman Frank Brooker was featured on clarinet with 'Over The Waves' and 'Gypsy Love Song' brought memories of lazy days in the sunshine. If only!

Dave Pogson on trumpet completed a strong front line ably backed by the rhythm section complemented by guest drummer Bill Evans.
