Toner to sign for Dale

Ciaran Toner will sign for Rochdale on Monday (30 June) after having his contract at Grimsby Town cancelled by mutual consent.

The midfielder is expected to sign a one-year deal at Spotland.

The 26-year-old, who turns 27 on Monday, was transfer listed by Grimsby at the end of the season and has now left the Mariners after three years at the club.

When the signing as been completed it will not be long before the ex-Tottenham Hotspur trainee makes a return to Blundell Park, as Dale face Grimsby on the opening day of the season.

The Northern Irishman, who has appeared twice for his country, made 108 appearances for Grimsby, scoring 15 goals.
