Tim Bobbin Festival: Celebrating 300 Years of Story Telling

Lancashire Dialect and storytelling are to be celebrated over the weekend of the 21st – 23rd November in a variety of venues across Milnrow as part of the Tim Bobbin Festival.

There will be a range of events taking place which will provide opportunities for people of all ages to join in the celebrations.

21st November

Traditional Lancashire Stories, Song and Dance - A performance by school children from Milnrow Schools at Hollingowrth Business Enterprise College at 3.30 pm.

Humorous Readings - Sid Calderbank recites the work of Lancashire Poet Edwin Waugh at Milnrow Working Mens Club at 7.30pm.

22nd November

Storytime for children with storyteller Peter Keal at Milnrow library 10.00am

Tim Bobbin Exhibition at Butterworth Hall at 2.00pm to 5.00pm.

Tall Tales and Stories, The Shaggy Dog storytellers at The Bobbin, milnrow at 8.00pm

Sunday 23rd November

Tim Bobbin and the 2 Vicars, presented by Milnrow Amatuer Dramatic Society at the Slip Inn 2.00pm.

The Secret is out ! Mads theatre company has disclosed that their next production, The Tale of Tim Bobbin, will take place in the boiler room at Ellenroad Mill in Newhey. For it will be a world premier for the play which tells the story of Milnrow’s most famous son, Tim Bobbin.

'Jack and the Beanstalk'

This year the Gracie Fields Theatre brings you one of the world’s favourite fairytales! Come and join in the traditional fun of booing the baddy Flesh Creep (Rochdale’s very own Paul Oldham), along with our hero Jack (Tom Guest) and Manchester’s Fairy Beansprout (Helen Wilding).
